A Bear Stearns analyst argues that e-tailers will be under pressure as consumers slow spending. Bear Stearns analyst Robert Peck said in a research note Friday that e-commerce warning signals abound. "The season is clearly being impacted by the general consumer pullback, with concerns on oil, housing, and the stock market. Many consumers are actively pursuing bargains and may be waiting for further promotions," writes Peck. It had been widely assumed that e-commerce giants such as Amazon, eBay and others wouldn't be affected too much by a broader slowdown. Testing boosts Friends Provident's ecommerce apps
Financial service company Friends Provident is using software testing tools to improve the quality of its ecommerce applications. The company's tech team designs, implements and manages ecommerce applications that deliver insurance information to banks and independent financial advisors, and needed a testing tool that could be used by distributed teams. Craig Gibbons, senior IT consultant at Friends Provident told silicon.com: "If you go back about three years, IT at Friends Provident was working in smaller teams with business people to do projects.
